GREENSBORO, N.C.—VF Corp. announced that it has officially completed its acquisition of the Rock & Republic premium denim brand for $57 million.
The deal was announced in December, and it marked the first acquisition for VF’s Licensed Brands group, led by David Conn, which was formed in July of 2009.
Rock & Republic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April, 2010. It was founded by bicycle racer Michael Ball in 2002 after he designed a pair of jeans for his girlfriend. Since then, it has expanded into a full lifestyle collection for men and women.
VF Corp’s brands include Nautica, 7 For All Mankind, John Varvatos, Lee, Wrangler and The North Face. In mid-February, the company reported its best year since 2007, with profits up 24 percent to $713.2 million.
