Aquilon announces Dallas and Miami dates

NEW YORK—Aquilon, the traveling regional menswear tradeshow launched by Charles Garone in May in Seattle and San Francisco, announced new cities for August. Aquilon will be in Dallas on Thursday and Friday, August 11-12, and in Miami on Monday and Tuesday, August 15-16.

“Our debut in Seattle and San Francisco was a successful and priceless learning experience for all involved,” said Aquilon founder and director Charles Garone. “Brands who were new to the territories were able to experience first hand where the retailers live and do business, which gave a better understanding of what their needs are.”

Garone said of his decision to bring the show to Dallas, “I’ve learned that while Dallas has a strong market, it is lacking in the contemporary component.” Aquilon will be at the Aloft Hotel, running concurrently with the Dallas Apparel Market.

“Our decision to show in Miami had a great deal to do with a women’s contemporary show called Coast and its five years of growing success,” Garone said. “Karen Bennett graciously offered Aquilon space within her venue at the Moore Building in the Design District, after requests from numerous vendors and retailers to bring in contemporary menswear.”

Karen Bennett, Coast’s president, added, “The need for a men’s contemporary show in Miami has become more apparent than ever. When shirt designer and Aquilon exhibitor Jared Lang came on board at Coast, he had an incredible response and sold primarily men’s shirts, which prompted me to contact Charles, whose creative background, history, and understanding of the contemporary market is amazing. Coast and Aquilon together offer retailers the best of both worlds.”

Aquilon exhibtors have included Synergy Showroom, which represents Zachary Prell, Bogosse and others, CPT Cockpit USA, Robin’s Jean, Artful Dodger and Jared Lang.
