MAGIC to Feature a New Streetwear Section

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Advanstar Fashion Group announced a new addition to the Las Vegas MAGIC Marketplace: S.L.A.T.E., a juried surf/skate/street event with 40,000 square feet of floor space. The name stands for Select Lifestyle Apparel Trends Emergence.

The new show, which is effectively a special section within the MAGIC trade show, will take many of the faster brands out of South Hall and into their own exclusive space.

“The future of progressive streetwear is being dictated by consumers with the confidence to mix and match their styles,” commented MAGIC president Chris DeMoulin in a staement. “S.L.A.T.E brands reflect that cutting edge taste and give discerning retailers a new way to buy.”

Brands include Addict, Undftd, Stussy, The Hundreds, Fresh Jive, Obey, Crooks and Castles, 10 Deep, AlpineStars, GRN Apple Tree, Hot Air, Rockwell, Twelve Bar, King Stamped, Sneaktip, Amongst Friends, Elm Company and Ctrl.

Press materials for the event describe the space as “a very organic and highly tailored environment” with the focus being on the brands, not the booths.

The section will also include Martin Magielka’s “Untitled Showcase,” which features a European brand exhibition and, separately, an exhibition of European contemporary artists who have an influence on the streetwear scene.
