Sam Jones, a longtime salesman for Robert Talbott in the Southeast, has died after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 65.
Jones worked with Robert Talbott for more than 14 years. His son, Davis Jones, began working with the brand last summer, alongside his father.
He was born in Laurel, Miss. and grew up in Nashville, Tenn. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1969.
Bob Corliss, CEO of Robert Talbott said of Jones, “No words can adequately express our sadness for Sam’s death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Sam have lost a dear friend.
“Sam was one of those people that if you met him, you immediately felt like you had known him for years. Sam was a good father, loving husband, great friend and a real competitor. He will always have a special place in our hearts. We will all miss him as a work colleague and friend after his many years of loyal service to the company. His spirit will forever be the foundation of Robert Talbott Inc.”
Jones is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cathy; two sons, Samuel Walter Jones, IV and Benjamin Davis Jones; daughter, Emily Jones Thomason; and two grandsons.
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, at noon at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1520 Oak Rd., Snellville, GA 30078. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to zerocancer.org.
