On Sunday, July 18, HMX hosted a cocktail reception for retailers and friends in their luxurious new showrooms at 125 Park Avenue in New York. Over 350 people were in attendance to meet and greet CEO Doug Williams (pictured at left with his wife), president and chief creative officer Joseph Abboud and the new HMX team.
The bold new Hickey Freeman tailored clothing was also on display along with images from the new Hickey Freeman campaign, shot by iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz. The collection, assembled under the direction of designer Joseph Abboud, displayed a much more modern and sophisticated approach to dressing, and was extremely well received by most merchants.
As one Southern specialty retailer put it, “What I have now isn’t selling, so this is certainly worth trying.”
Others were quite enthusiastic about the new direction of the company, which is also redesigning its sportswear collections and will soon add Austin Reed sportswear to the healthy tailored clothing business for that brand.

The event also marked the first time that all the HMX divisions, including Hart Schaffner & Marx, Coppley and the licensed brands exhibited together under the same roof. Click here to see several more photos from the party in MR‘s Schmoozing.
