Macy’s Opening a New Bay Area Store

CINCINNATI—Macy’s Inc. announced that it will be opening a 100,000 sq. ft. Macy’s store in a former Gottschalk’s location in the city of Tracy, just outside the San Francisco Bay Area. The store, which will hire about 130 people, will open in the fall.

“We believe shoppers in Tracy and the surrounding region will respond enthusiastically to the distinctive fashion, obvious value and exciting shopping experience for which Macy’s is known,” said Macy’s chief stores officer Ron Klein. “We are especially excited, given that this will be Macy’s first presence in Tracy, which is uniquely situated at the confluence of the San Francisco, San Jose, Modesto and Stockton metropolitan areas. We will tailor the Macy’s offering in Tracy to meet the preferences of customers who live and work there, and we expect to be active members of the community.”

Macy’s Inc. operates 850 Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores in 45 states.
