Ross Stores to open a distribution center in South Carolina

California-based off-price retailer Ross Stores plans to open a new distribution facility in South Carolina, creating 600 jobs over five years.

The retailer plans to use the 1.2 million sq. ft. Rock Hill facility in York County to distribute merchandise to its retail stores in 30 states. The distribution center is expected to be up and running in 2013.

Michael Wilson, senior vice president of supply chain for Ross Stores said it currently operates over 1.9 million sq. ft. of distribution space in York County, as well as its supply chain headquarters.
