Jeffrey Stein joins Samtex as VP of menswear division

NEW YORK—Samtex Fashion has named Jeffrey Stein VP and general manager of its menswear division. Stein will be responsible for finding and acquiring new tailored clothing licenses.

“We currently expect to announce our first license within a month,” Stein commented. “Our goal at Samtex is to add brands to complement our wholesale and private label business.”

Stein has been in the menswear business for more than 30 years, including six as an EVP at Oxford’s Lanier Clothes division. He has also held executive positions at Shinyei and Kellwood.

Samtex Fashion, a division of India’s Samtex Corporation, started in 1993 as India’s first tailored clothing factory, launched in collaboration with Samsung Korea. Samtex fashion manufactures men’s tailored clothing and women’s sportswear, and the company says it produces 350,000 units a month. Samtex also makes apparel under its own brands, which include Britches and Jennifer and Grace.
