Salerno joins Stewart/Stand accessories

Marty Salerno has joined Stewart/Stand, an accessories company best known for its stainless steel RFID-blocking wallets, as president. The brand was founded by Theo and Paul Stewart-Stand ten years ago and is based in Westchester, New York. The company also operates a design studio and retail store in Brooklyn’s trendy “DUMBO” neighborhood.

Currently the brand offers an assortment of men’s wallets, passport cases and credit card folds. Salerno was brought on to extend the brand into additional accessory classifications, with plans to launch men’s bags, backpacks, iPad and cell phone cases, as well as an entire line of women’s wallets for spring 2013. The collection will also be represented at Block Industries showroom.

Salerno was formerly with RGA Leatherworks and Blue Marlin. “I’ve had my information swiped two times in the past year, so I’m taking this personally,” says Salerno. “The design team has been crazy busy, because we want every person to one day be protected from identity theft.”

The collection is manufactured overseas, with silk-screening, embossing and etching all done domestically in the company’s Westchester facility. In addition to their branded line the company also does corporate logo items. Recently their designers collaborated with the award-winning Dutch designer Helena Jongerius, using her fabrics on their wallets. See Stewart/Stand for more information.
