Dignity U Wear honors three “champions” at fall gala

Dignity U Wear honored three of “Dignity’s champions,” Lou Amendola of Brooks Brothers, Bill Clement of Intermodel CSX and Ed Krell of Destination Maternity, at its first annual Fall Gala on October 25, 2012, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.

“These three amazing individuals and their companies play an integral role in helping us bring dignity to the lives of children and families in need. Their generosity and foresight in how to harness the power of corporate giving to help as many people as possible is truly inspiring, and it’s what makes our mission possible,” said Executive Director Barbara Truncellito.

Proceeds from the Fall Gala will support Dignity U Wear in its three initiatives — school children, veterans, and women in crises. In 12 years, Dignity U Wear has delivered over $125 million of apparel and accessories to over 300 social agencies in 35 states. Because of the large number of volunteers, the overhead is only about 5 percent. “In addition, we have our own warehouse, so we are able to customize and personalize our deliverables to the individual. No other non-profit is doing this for our fellow Americans in need during these difficult economic times. We call it dignity,” said Truncellito.
