Pier 92 is one of several piers on Manhattan’s West Side, at the end of 52nd Street. It is adjacent to the pier that was the longtime home to The Collective menswear trade show.
Project had been at a multi-floor SoHo warehouse space at 82 Mercer Street for the last few years.
“This is my first step in creating the most compelling menswear show in the marketplace,” commented Fazio in a statement. “We feel that brands should be able to showcase their product in creative ways that fully express what they are all about. The space available at Pier 92 will afford them this opportunity while creating an even more dynamic show for attendees.”
Fazio, who was named president of Project, S.L.A.T.E., STREET, and MAGICMENS in mid-October, was previously men’s fashion and trend director at Nordstrom. Fazio was a VP of sales at Calvin Klein before he joined Hickey Freeman to help launch its younger diffusion line Hickey. He became men’s fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman in 2007 and was given the extra responsibility of Neiman Marcus in 2009. He joined Simon Spurr in late 2009 and moved on to Nordstrom in October last year.
Project’s next show is scheduled for January 21-23, 2013.Project is a division of Advanstar, which also owns MAGIC. Project was launched in 2003 by Atrium owner Sam Ben-Avraham, who is no longer affiliated with the show.
Editor’s Note: Project updated its new location, changing it from Pier 90 to Pier 92. The trade show cited storm damage to Pier 90 from Hurricane Sandy.
