A new documentary film by producer/director Vicki Vasilopoulos (a former editor at DNR) focuses on Italian master tailors, both in America and abroad. Portraying custom tailoring in its highest form, Vasilopoulos brilliantly captures the artistry and humanity inherent in our industry. But with so many master tailors now in their 70s and 80s, one wonders how long the tradition will live on.
With a goal of raising $20,000 for production costs by December 21st (or else she receives none of the contributions pledged) so the film can get distributed at various festivals, Vasilopoulos is hoping the movie will inspire a new generation of custom tailors, or at least programs to teach young people this highly skilled craft. She is awarding gifts (bags, posters, custom shirts) for various levels of pledged support. For more information visit kickstarter.com.
