Ike Behar opens Charleston, S.C. store

CHARLESTON, S.C.—The Ike Behar brand opened its first flagship store, in Charleston, South Carolina. The store, at 169 King Street, stocks Ike Behar’s full line of suits, sport coats, trousers, sportswear, dress shirts, neckwear, outerwear, loungewear and accessories.

Ike Behar president Alan Behar said in a statement, “While the Ike Behar brand continues to be based on a broad range of dress shirts and neckwear in many colors and patterns, as is our heritage, the brand is definitely evolving to a complete lifestyle look. With our opening in Charleston, our consumer now has a great opportunity to experience the full complement of the Ike Behar brand with all our quality products from all our various licensees in one place. We are excited to give him a chance to create the total look.”

SVP of merchandising Steven Behar said that the brand is planning to open 10 stores over the next five years, several of them in 2013.

Ike Behar founded his eponymous shirt brand in the 1950s when he bought the small New York City tailor shop that gave the Cuba native his first job in the US. The company is run by Ike’s three sons, Steven, Alan and Lawrence, and is now a full lifestyle brand across multiple categories. The company is based in Miami and New York.
