Johnstons of Elgin granted Royal Warrant

Scottish wool and cashmere brand Johnstons of Elgin has been granted “The Royal Warrant of Appointment to The Prince of Wales.”

Group managing director James Dracup, who got the news after the mill’s winter holiday, commented: “We have worked for five years through the good offices of James Sugden OBE, the official Grantee, who, assisted by John Gillespie, has developed a number of very special tweeds for His Royal Highness.”

The Royal Warrant Holders Association, which dates back to 1840, represents companies that have supplied a part of the British Royal Family for at least five years. Royal Warrant holders are entitled to display certain Royal Arms on their products with the words “By Appointment,” subject to a set of strict rules.
