GREEN BAY, Wisc.—Shopko has promoted Jill Soltau to president and chief merchant. As a part of her promotion she will have the added responsibility for the marketing, e-commerce, inventory management and supply chain departments.
Soltau, a 25-year veteran of the retail business, has been EVP and chief merchandising officer since 2009. She joined Shopko in 2007 as SVP and GMM in apparel and accessories. Soltau’s career began at Carson Pirie Scott; she’s held positions at Sears and Kohl’s.
“Since joining Shopko, Jill has led the creation of Shopko’s highly successful main store merchandising strategy and has been instrumental in the development of the company’s growth vehicle, Shopko Hometown,” commented COO Mike Bettiga, who also serves as Shopko’s interim CEO. “Jill is a committed, driven, and enthusiastic leader. Her promotion to president ensures that our merchandising and marketing strategies, as well as our business goals, are kept in the forefront and will continue to be successfully executed.”
Shopko operates nearly 350 stores in 22 states. Those stores include 176 Shopko Hometown stores, which are smaller doors that serve smaller markets. Green Bay, Wisc.-based Shopko was founded in 1962. It is owned by affiliates of Sun Capital Partners.
