Presented at Milk Made during New York Fashion Week, Public School’s presentation for F/W13 offered an air of the Amish, coupled with sleek tailoring in the form of blazers, leather jackets, and topcoats. With a flair for fabric blocking, a trend that’s quickly ascended to what sometimes seems like ubiquity, the collection displayed an avant-garde masculinity.
“We really wanted to explore technique with this collection,” says co-founder Dao-Yi Chow. “The past two seasons set the tone for our silhouette and aesthetic, so we wanted to focus on developing new washes, embellishments and details that would help to define the Public School look. We looked at how the little traits of someone’s personality helped to define who they are and similarly tried to capture that with our garments.”
