CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Belk is having its semi-annual Charity Sale later this month, raising money for thousands of local charities in the 16 states the retailer operates in.
The sales in all Belk stores will be on Saturday, April 27 from 6-10am. Participating charities sell $5 tickets (keeping the full amount) to the four-hour events and customers gain entrance to the sale, which has store-wide discounts of 20-70 percent off. Customers may also buy tickets at all Belk stores starting April 19. The first 100 customers at each store get Belk gift cards in denominations from $5 to $100.
Last year’s two seasonal sales raised more than $10 million for 8,000 charities, including March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Teens Do Care, Literacy Council, United Way, American Red Cross and assorted local churches, animal rescue groups, schools and athletic programs.
“As we celebrate our 125th anniversary, Belk is especially proud of our ability to give back to the communities who have supported us so much over the years,” said Belk’s Jessica Graham. “There is no limit to the number of organizations that can participate, the number of tickets they can sell, or the amount of money they can raise—so everyone benefits.”
Charities interested in participating must have 501(c)(3) designation.
