Following in the most recent footsteps of Kenzo and Maison Kitsuné, who were honored as the guest designers of Pitti’s January shows, the Italian trade show has announced the two newest additions to an initiative that has hosted fashion luminaries including Valentino, Band of Outsiders, Carven, Gareth Pugh and Rodarte.
Parisian-based designer Damir Doma will be the guest designer at Pitti W 12, and Japanese designer Juniche Abe of menswear brand Kolor will be the guest designer of Pitti Immagine Uomo 84.
“Kolor and Damir Doma represent two very different stories and cultures,” commented Lapo Cianchi, director of communication and events at Pitti Immagine, “but in our opinion, they share the same determination for developing their brands and building a strong business experience based on a very precise, personal and creative inspiration that does not follow mainstream fashion trends.”
Junichi Abe presents his collections at Paris Fashion Week, and offers a consistent aesthetic that plays with color and proportion. Pieces that begin with a tailored construction often evolve into loose loungewear, all created from custom-developed fabrics.
The two Pitti events will be held in Florence on Wednesday June 19th and Thursday June 20th; the exact dates and times will be published shortly.
