Finish Line COO Schneider begins retirement transition

The Finish Line INDIANAPOLIS—The Finish Line’s president and COO Steve Schneider has taken a new position as a part of transition to retirement. Starting next week, Schneider will be EVP of strategic initiatives. He will report to CEO Glenn Lyon and those currently reporting to him will now report to either Lyon or EVP/CFO Ed Wilhelm.

“When Steve first approached me about his long-term plan toward retirement after almost 35 years in specialty retail including 24 years at Finish Line, we discussed how to continue to capitalize on his strengths and the vital role he holds with our leadership team,” said Lyon. “Steve’s incredible business acumen, his strong operational analysis and his keen vision for planning will be key to implementing Finish Line’s long-term strategic growth plan.”

Added Schneider, “As I look down the road both personally and professionally, this new position affords me the opportunity to spend more time with my family and to work more closely with community and philanthropic groups that I value while staying intricately involved in Finish Line’s long-term organizational strategy.”

The Finish Line operates 652 mall-based stores and manages athletic shoe departments in 660 Macy’s doors.
