A group of top independent retailers recently got together for the first-ever “St. Croix Elite” retreat in Winona, Minn., a concept spearheaded by St. Croix founder Bernie Brenner. The goal: to provide retailers who have St. Croix shops (or a major St. Croix presence in their stores) an opportunity to exchange ideas and possibly product, to come up with more creative and aggressive marketing concepts, to accelerate e-commerce and social media, to improve sales training, incentives and much more. A think-tank approach to growing the brand, the retreat gave retailers the opportunity to brainstorm, to challenge each other, and to have a key vendor actually welcome their feedback.
