The $97.5 million deal, which was announced mid-July, “reunited Joseph Abboud with his iconic brand at Men’s Wearhouse,” in the words of CEO Doug Ewert.
Under the new ownership, the Joseph Abboud brands will become exclusive to Men’s Wearhouse.
Designer Joseph Abboud founded his eponymous brand in 1987 after working for Ralph Lauren. He sold the rights to his name in 2000 for $65.5 million and had a rocky relationship with the brand’s next two owners. He joined Men’s Wearhouse as creative director in December last year.
