Last week, Pitti Immagine hosted a luncheon to celebrate its latest guest designer at the upcoming 85th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo. Andreas Melbostad will present his first collection for Diesel Black Gold at the menswear show in January. Previous guest designer brands include Kenzo, Kolor, and Band of Outsiders. Other Pitti news was also announced at the luncheon, which took place at the Chelsea outpost of Italian eatery Bocca di Bacco, attended by industry notables including Stefano Tonchi, Nick Sullivan, Nick Wooster, Tyler Thoreson, and Street Etiquette.
Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine, who was also at the luncheon, explains, “We have admired Melbostad’s talent for many years, and we are very curious to see what he will create for the Florentine scene, especially because the next edition of the fair will have a very ‘musical’ inspiration.”
Andreas Melbostad responded, “It is an honor to present my first Diesel Black Gold men’s collection at Pitti. It is a unique opportunity to showcase the new cohesive vision for the line, expressing its strong distinctive voice. I will enforce the core codes of the collection with my own sensibility and hand. In this task, I appreciate the support of Renzo Rosso who gives the confidence and inspiration.”
The show will take place in Florence from January 7-10, 2014.
