New York market week was filled with both unique and functional accessories. Here are a handful of cool brands doing some interesting things that might add a little spice to your fall 2014 mix.
Maptote makes all of their products in Brooklyn from U.S. materials. Check out their city and state-themed canvas bags ($17 retail), and canvas and denim wine totes ($15 and $17, respectively).
Suigeneric NYC doesn’t make watches, they make watch straps. The 18-to 24-mm straps will work with almost any watch face from Timex to Rolex. Made from hand-waxed cotton, retailers like Haberdash, Need Supply and Reed Space have already picked up the line. Suigeneric’s co-founder Michael Moon Park tells us retailers will merchandise them with their existing watch brands and sell them as an add-on purchase ($45 retail).
Herschel Supply Co. never fails to impress. I especially loved their tie-dye collection for fall (retails for styles shown here range from $54.99 to $89.99). This Canadian-based company sells to stores like Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters and Karmaloop.com.
Schott NYC launched wool bags ($250 retail) under its Perfecto Brand for the current sales season (fall 2013), with plans to expand the offering for fall 2014. Bags are all made in the USA from authentic materials; stores like Unionmade, Barneys and A.K. Rikks carry Perfecto Brand.
Paolo Albizzati offers beautiful Italian neckwear, scarves and handkerchiefs. All fabrics are exclusive and products are manufactured in their Italian factories. Neckwear retails for around $100, handkerchiefs for around $86, and is sold in the U.S. at retailers like Barneys.
Cufflinks Inc. makes classic and novelty cuff links, tie bars and money clips. The company holds the license for numerous sports leagues (NBA, NHL, NCAA, MLB, NFL), DC Comics, Star Wars, Star Trek, GM, as well as offers branded product (Ravi Ratan, Ox & Bull) and custom production. Fall 2014 has a lot of cool styles like cuff links that double as USB flash drives ($100 retail) and links with functional watch movements ($150 retail).
