Men’s Wearhouse posts Q4 loss as sales fall

Retailer Men’s Wearhouse posted a fourth quarter loss of US$18.9m, impacted by a 4% sales decline.

The US company’s revenues were $457.2m in the three months to 30 January, thanks to a 6.8% sales decline at its Men’s Wearhouse stores, plus a 6% fall at K&G – only partially offset by a 19% sales rise for Moores.

Comparable store sales fell 7.1% at Men’s Wearhouse, declined 5% at K&G, and edged up 1.9% at Moores.

For the full year, sales were down 3.2% to $1.9bn, declining across the board at all the company’s store formats.

Men’s Wearhouse predicted first quarter earnings per diluted share of $0.12-0.16, based on flat to slightly declining comparable store sales.
