Wal-Mart apparel chief resigns – report

An apparel boss at US retail giant Wal-Mart, Dottie Mattison, has resigned from her role at the firm.

Her resignation was effective yesterday (23 July).

A short statement from a spokesperson at Wal-Mart, released to just-style, said: “I can confirm that Dottie Mattison stepped down last week to pursue other opportunities.”

A reshuffle was announced by Wal-Mart last month, which meant Mattison, as senior vice president and general manager of apparel, would be responsible for the Apparel Global Merchandising Center, including brand merchandising, product development and sourcing.

Meanwhile, senior vice president of apparel Lisa Rhodes, who previously reported to Mattison, was to take on more responsibility while continuing to oversee category merchandising.

Unconfirmed reports today also say the retailer is set to roll out electronic tags to keep track of individual garments in its stores.
