Unifi posts first FY profit since 2000

Yarn maker Unifi returned to profit in the fiscal fourth quarter thanks to strong revenue gains of 26.6% in the three months to 27 June.

The US company posted its first full-year profit in a decade, with net income of $10.7m.

“Our volumes continued to strengthen during the June quarter as a result of improvements in retail sales, which continue to show signs of recovery and positive regional sourcing trends,” said Ron Smith, Unifi CFO.

“Results for the quarter were also positively impacted by the company’s share of earnings in Parkdale America, as well as continued improvements in our operations in Brazil and China.”
