Oh Oh Oh It’s MAGIC!
February 24, 2009

I started my morning at the Doneger presentation where men’s fashion analyst Tim Bess touched upon upcoming trends in the Young men’s market. He talked about the importance of color, updated plaids, and dressing up. Bess predicts British influences and retro styles, (especially from the 80s) with extreme washes and color blocking to be big for fall 2009.

Feeling inspired, I dove right into POOL. I was immediately drawn to Grn Apple Tree. The collection is made in L.A. and the company prides itself on creating jobs in the U.S. I loved this waterproof Nubuck jacket (above) for $110 retail.

I’ve been searching for a great non-denim bottom and was pleased to find these cords at Benthrasher. The collection includes outerwear and wovens, but I especially liked the two-toned corduroys for $99 retail.

Skinny ties and bow ties from Gytha Mander ($28 wholesale) and Revl ($20 wholesale) looked fun and playful. These great accessories are a way for a young guy to dress-up, without looking like his father.

I made my way down to SLATE where Livity caught my eye. This outerwear piece has nano-technology to keep surface fabric dry. The shell is recycled-poly ripstop and the lining is hemp-recycled poly fleece for $180 retail.

Finally, I stopped by the Crooks and Castles booth. The collection is cleaning up and this engineer stripe, shawl collar cardigan stood out at $72 retail.

Stay tuned for more Vegas coverage from the young men’s/contemporary market.
