Seems we'd just closed our Macy's East Retailer of the Year issue when we were invited to come to the store's Spring 2008 preview. Men's VP/Fashion Director Steve Cardino, together with his compatriots Nicole Fischelis and Russell Orlando, transformed the space into a big pink time machine, transporting editors to Spring 2008 (like that wouldn't happen fast enough?). Pink, because it's the color Macy's East is getting behind in a big way for the season.
Other big news?
The store has added the Iceberg collection for Spring, like this cardigan with Mickey Mouse embroidery (below).
The sneaker is the shoe to wear with everything. Also, the boat shoe.
The white collar shirt, worn open as the new casual shirt.
The button down cardigan (below) an important, new piece for young men, and the tailored Berumuda short.
New softer knits (but not cashmere--that's only for fourth quarter at Macy's.)
Although showing colored denim...mostly editorial...real guys want real indigo.
Spring I may be all about pink layered with neutrals, but summer equals brighter, more intense shades.
The big news in young men's: Coogi's updated look! Macy's is adding the black label collection to the floor, mixing in Ed Hardy. "The urban guy is really getting into it, says Cardino, "still with a big, full fit. This kid has grown up with his dad wearing Sean John, so he wants something new."
Coogi
Ed Hardy
All in all, an impressive, updated classic presentation--if all goes as planned, Macy's should be "in the pink" all season!

I love it. I hope they stick to this plan because it should really help out Men's Business. Who do they think their customer is???????
Keep up the good work, it is helping us tremendously!

If it wasn't for VP/Fashion Director Steve Cardino, Macy's would not be even close to a fashion contemporary scene as it has become with his passion and direction... Great eye John.... Hey, those sneakers look a little like Leather Island Bill Lavin?
hahhahahaha... Rock on Steve, you're the bomb..!
Cheers...

I ain't buying. Based on their current trend RED will be the coporate theme next spring.
