YORK, Penn.—The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. is closing its underperforming Northwood, Ohio Elder-Beerman store in the Woodville Mall. The 167,900 square foot store employs about 60 people. It will officially close in September.
Bon-Ton CEO Bud Bergren commented in a statement, “The company continually reviews the performance of its assets, and following a review of the Northwood location, we made the decision to close the store. We sincerely appreciate the loyalty and dedication of our associates and the support of our Woodville Mall customers. We remain committed to our customers in this community and encourage them to visit our Elder-Beerman store in the Westgate Village Mall.”
Bon-Ton acquired Elder-Beerman in 2003. The company operates about 280 stores in 23 states under the names Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s, Younkers and Parisian.
