GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Mitchells dinner for their vendor partners at Valbella Ristorante in Greenwich, Conn., was another one of those amazing get-togethers that helps to burnish their reputation as a family that takes pride in giving back and “hugging” not only their customers, but also their suppliers and associates. The event, sponsored by GQ Magazine, was part of the celebration of the store’s 50th anniversary. As usual, the lavish affair was filled with the warm Mitchells style and featured a video with clips from each decade of the store’s existence, including some sentimental footage of founder Ed Mitchell, as well as all of the Mitchells second and third generation members who now run the company’s three stores.

In a big “hug” to those in attendance, Jack and Bill Mitchell, the senior family members, spoke at length about the value of their relationships and thanked those in attendance for helping them to succeed. During the sit-down dinner, several vendors and friends stood up spontaneously at different points in the evening to comment on what knowing the Mitchells and being included in their culture has meant to them. MR editor Karen Alberg spoke about how people ask her all the time if the Mitchells are “for real”, and assured the crowd that “you can’t fake this stuff”, and that the Mitchell family and their employees really care, really get along, and certainly deserve their stellar reputation.
About 150 people were in attendance. Click here for photos from the event.
