YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund Hosts Scholar Interns

June 24, 2009

It has been a banner year for the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund intern program as the group has placed virtually every candidate who sought summer employment this year. In all, 47 scholars received placements in 35 companies across the wholesale and retail spectrum from Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Macy’s and Gap to Zac Posen, Anna Sui and Li & Fung.

The organization hosted an “intern social” last week at the Tommy Hilfiger store in New York’s SoHo neighborhood where working interns in New York, from across the country, could meet each other, network with Fashion Scholarship board members, and mingle with celebrities like Tommy Hilfiger and Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall. The evening was deemed a great success by both interns and YMA members as the future fashion executives had plenty of time and opportunity to interact with major players from Fashion Scholarship Fund member companies.

The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund is one of the largest charitable organizations in the apparel business. It is a non-profit association consisting of influential members of the fashion community who are dedicated to finding and nurturing students with the potential to be tomorrow’s leaders. This is accomplished through the granting of scholarships, internships, mentoring and career programs. For more information contact Harry Harrison, Executive Director, at 212-594-6422.
