The new Major League baseball season is in full-swing this week and to celebrate, MR’s Item of the Week is the classic Sportshu from PF Flyers.
This version is an “archival reissue” from the original 1940s baseball shoe design. The Japanese division of PF Flyers came across an old American catalogue and decided to remake and re-launch this style in Japan. Now they are offering it to the American market and it is currently available at retailers like Fred Segal, and DDCLAB. The sportshu is handmade and available
in two colorways, black and natural, retailing for $160.
The sportshu is perfect for the nostalgic slugger, or a way for the ambitious benchwarmer to live out his big-league dreams vicariously.
Boston-based PF Flyers is owned by New Balance and has been around since the 1930s.
Each week, MR’s editors will comment on a product we’ve seen in the market. It could be an emerging trend, a novel take on a classic or something that just caught our eyes.
