Item of the Week: Sportshirts from Arbitrage

By: Elise M. Diamantini

February 12, 2009

Arbitrage’s Alan Chan stopped by the MR offices recently to give us a sneak peek at the fall 2009 collection. He was so excited to show us their latest take on woven sportshirts, Arbitrage Man, that he even videotaped our reaction (we later tried to confiscate the tape). At first look, the shirts appear to be basic, beautifully constructed sportshirts, but come a little closer and you see the almost hidden, iridescent prints and patterns.

Arbitrage Man comprises 10 styles including “The Rockstar” (guitars, above left) “The Shooter” (fighter planes, above right) and of course, “The Perfect Gentleman” (inspired by the Wyclef Jean song). All shirts are French front, with a modified spread collar and retail for $165. Its understated chic, and a great value at retail, especially in this economy: A guy can wear it more conservatively under a sportcoat, or skip the jacket for a night out with the guys. When I’m sure, they’re acting like ah-hem, “perfect gentlemen.” Visit Arbitrage at Project in Las Vegas (Booth #16048, at 16th Avenue and Avenue C) or at www.arbitrage.com.

Each week, MR’s editors will comment on a product we’ve seen in the market. It could be an emerging trend, a novel take on a classic or something that just caught our eyes.
